Album Info:*Turboliners - Mothballed at the Amtrak Car Shops in Bear, DE, these gas turbine trainsets were built for Amtrak in the 1970s. Consisting of three passenger cars with two powercars on either end, these trains saw service mainly in New York along the Empire Corridor. After a handful of the Turboliner sets were refurbished and upgraded in the early 2000's, Amtrak withdrew them from service in 2004 due to issues with the air conditioning and HVAC systems. In 2018, two of the three sets that had been in storage in Bear, DE were taken north to Amtrak's Adams Yard in New Brunswick, NJ to be used in the training of law enforcement. A video of that move can be seen via this link: https://youtu.be/AMDpN-DWwbo *HHP8s - Designed by Alstrom and Bombardier, the HHP8s were a twin-cab electric locomotive that began service with Amtrak circa 1999. Throughout their service lives, the HHP8s were plagued with mechanical and reliability problems with correspondingly high per capita, unscheduled maintenance and replacement costs. The HHP8s saw service along the Northeast Corridor until Amtrak withdrew and retired them in November of 2014. *The Amtrak AEM-7 began service in 1980, replacing the aging GG1's and eventually the E60's (by 2003). Most were rebuilt in the late 90s, converting 29 units from DC to AC. The AEM-7's remained in service for a total of 36 years, before finally being retired in 2016. One unit, #915 has been preserved at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg, PA.
